Team Brad Jacobs is set to take a 3-1 record into Saturday’s start of playoff action at the Tour Challenge, a six-day, Grand Slam of Curling event which began on Tuesday in Thunder Bay.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, will face John Shuster of Duluth, Mn., in a 4 p.m. quarter-final match.

The Sault team dropped its first round-robin game on Friday night, losing 3-1 to Calgary’s Kevin Koe.

That completed round-robin action for Team Jacobs, which won once on Wednesday and twice on Thursday.

A total of 15 men’s and 15 women’s rinks are entered in Tier I of the Tour Challenge.

The top eight men’s and top eight women’s rinks qualified for the quarter-finals.

Saturday’s afternoon winners advance into the men’s semifinals at 8 p.m.

The championship game for the men is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday, with the top two women’s rinks meeting in that championship final at 12 noon.
