Google Call Screen Features Starts Roll Out to Pixel Smartphones

The tech giant Google has started rolling out a new feature named call screen for its pixel smartphones that let users make use of the Google Assistant to see who is calling and on what purpose before they answer a call. The feature allows users to see a real-time transcript of how the caller responds so that they can they can decide whether to pick up, respond by a quick reply, mark the call as spam or simply dismiss it. In a press release, Google mentioned “Call Screen is only available to English speakers in the United States who have Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3, or 3XL devices. If you don’t see Call Screen in the Phone app’s settings, it’s not available for your device yet.”

This feature can help users save the time spent on picking up unimportant calls from unknown numbers, and doesn’t use Wi-Fi or mobile data of the user. The feature will not work with any of the third party screens or call recording apps as these apps may interfere with how the feature works. So, Google recommends turning off these apps before using Call Screen.

The feature will allow users to submit simple feedback regarding the quality of the transcription. Call Screen transcripts is not a surprising addition as the original support documents of Google Pixel devices features the references to it. Google has kept its promise by introducing Call Screen transcripts before the year ends, which was previously promised to users.
