Katie Lou Samuelson surpasses Diana Taurasi in UConn record books

Senior Katie Lou Samuelson continues to cement her legacy at UConn, and Saturday she added another accomplishment.

Samuelson needed four 3-pointers against Seton Hall to move past UConn and WNBA legend Diana Taurasi for second-most in program history. The senior now sits at 320, just 78 away from record-holder Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.

Samuelson already holds the 3-point record for the American Athletic Conference, surpassing Kitija Laksa (307) for the top spot in November. That same night she tied Maya Moore for third in UConn history.

“That’s pretty cool,” Samuelson said when told about tying with Moore. “I didn’t know that, but it’s something that I’m pretty excited to be a part of and to get that opportunity. I’ve been shooting my whole life, so for it to pay off is kind of cool.”

Prior to Saturday’s game Samuelson was UConn’s leading scorer, averaging 19.4 points.
