Rahul to campaign in Manipur, northeast next week

Patna, March 17 : The NDA leaders of Bihar will hold a press conference at JD(U) office in Patna to announce the seat sharing in Bihar for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday and there is speculation that BJP is set to drop sitting MP from Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha and he is likely to be replaced by Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Bihar JD(U) chief Bashisjtha narayan Singh, Lok Janshakti Party president Pashupati Kumar paras and Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai will be present at the presser.

BJP is likely to contest from Patna Sahib, Arrah, East Champaran, Sheohar, Madhubani, muzaggarpur,Maharaganj and more . LJP will contest from six seats.

Prasad’s name was discussed in the BJP’s central election committee here which was attended by party chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shatrughan Sinha has been critical of the party’s top leadership on several occasions in the past.

Deliberations continued till late in the night and the name of Rajya Sabha MP R K Sinha was also discussed for the Patna Sahib seat.

The Janata Dal (United) will contest from Nalanda, Purnea, Gopalganj, Siwan,Valmiki Nagar, Jhankharpur, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Karakat, Munger, Gaya and Jehanabad, leaving Hajipur, Jamui, Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagaria and Nawada for the Ram Vilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party.

The general election is scheduled to be held from April 11 to May 19. Polling in Bihar will be conducted in seven phases.
